Machine shop turnings and swarf removed by Sturtevant Vacuum System

Clyde Materials Handling has recently supplied a Swarf Handling system to a major engine machine shop to remove cuttings and debris from the machining process for engine components.

Three operator points pick-up waste material from the machining stations and convey it back to a Tipping Vacuum Skip for collection and ultimate ease of disposal, providing increased operator safety and less manual handling.

The material is conveyed through a fixed pipe-work system to the Skip where it is separated from the conveying air using a cyclone head, depositing the waste material in the Skip.

When the Skip is full, it is easily and safely lifted by Fork Truck and removed to the main collecting point for emptying. Safety features on the skip prevent premature tipping during transport and let the Fork Lift Driver empty the skip from a safe, protected position

Motive air is provided by a Sturtevant Turbo Exhauster ensuring long life, low maintenance and low noise operation. Employed extensively in Central Vacuum Cleaning Systems and large Heavy Duty Mobile Units, the Sturtevant Turbo Exhauster can be used to provide oil free air for many other applications such as Pneumatic Conveying, Garment Pressing, Steam and Condense extracting, Aeration of Powders and liquids, Cooling & Drying.
